Welcome to the new home of Sugar by Winz
After many tears and tantrums of getting my blog hacked into by some computer in Russia....the fastest way to get from A to B is to start again. *sigh*
Anyways, its a new year, a new decade, so its probably fitting to have a new blog.
So, let me bring you up to date!
Christmas was a whirlwind of sugar and penguins. For all of you who supported the Christmas range, it was all for a good cause with part proceeds going towards the Salvation Army's Christmas appeal. This pretty penguin designs were inspired by the very talented Su Yin of Delectable.
There was also of course the Daring Bakers December challenge.
The December 2009 Daring Bakers’ challenge was brought to you by Anna of Very Small Anna and Y of Lemonpi. They chose to challenge Daring Bakers’ everywhere to bake and assemble a gingerbread house from scratch. They chose recipes from Good Housekeeping and from The Great Scandinavian Baking Book as the challenge recipes.
Although I simply LOVE participating in the challenges set out by all the talented bakers from around the world, this December was just too hard! So, what to do? Well, technically I cheated.....
I happened upon some real Graham crackers in Perth! If you live in Perth, you may know what I'm excited about. Our range of imported baking items is scarce at the best of times. It's one thing to read about all the wonderful ingredients available throughout the world, and totally another when it comes to getting hold of them here - yes, even if its a simple graham cracker. Back on the subject, the houses are made from graham crackers cut to size and decorated with royal icing and all things nice. These went to nice homes for the little people in my life.
There were also brandy soaked cupcakes and rum balls disguised as Christmas puddings.
And if that wasn't enough baking and icing in the 35 degree heat (Celsius that is) there was also the happy occassion of Wendy & Rob's engagement.
A huge tiffany blue heart shaped chocolate cake with matching cupcakes for a summer BBQ at their fabulous newly renovated home.
And then Carlin had a special birthday with fancy food and pretty cocktails. Naturally we did cupcakes to match the mood.
Coconut cucpakes and pink lemonade cupcakes topped with whipped vanilla icing with pretty white and pink blossoms.
Then of course there was also Debra's engagement with a very classy design in black and white.
Chocolate mud cupcakes and orange blossom cupcakes with fondant icing.
Then finally but equally as important, Roisin turned 1!
A huge jaffa mud cake to share with 50 family and friends (big and little) at a summer picnic. This cake was acrchitecturally designed by her doting parents, both of whom are successful architects!
And happily, the month is not over yet. The rest of the month's cakes will be posted soon!
